Why has Robert F. Kennedy Jr. focused his time around Trump to tackle the issue of American health? Why has he promised to ban harmful additives and chemicals in our food and water? Why must we make America healthy again? According to the National Institutes of Health, the obesity rate in the United States has almost tripled in the last 60 years. According to the CDC, the rate at which children are suffering from autism has gone from 1 out of 150 children in 2000 to 1 out of 36 children in 2020. America is in a health crisis that had been overlooked for decades until Robert F. Kennedy Jr. brought the situation to light for many Americans. In most instances, a developed country such as the United States should not see these downward health trends as the country progresses technologically and medically. Still, the United States has defied the odds. What is to blame? Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blames the harmful additives and chemicals put into our food, liquids, and pharmaceuticals that pass testing due to an FDA that is bought out by big food and drug companies. For the United States to be a strong country, the people must be strong, but this is a hard task when Americans are constantly bombarded with processed foods containing harmful chemicals that are not meant for human consumption. To end this spiral of obesity and mental disabilities, we must make America healthy again.
"Obsequious subservience to the Big Ag, Big Food, and pharmaceutical companies has left our children drowning in a toxic soup of pesticide residues, corn syrup, and processed foods" (Robert F. Kennedy Jr.). If you go to the grocery store with the intent to buy organic foods that have not been processed or bloated with fake sugars or chemicals you would be in for a long task. If you are even able to find everything you are looking for and it is not processed the price would be much higher than the processed foods. The Big Ag and Big Food companies have successfully poisoned our foods just enough that it doesn't kill us, but makes us sicker over time just so they can save a few extra dollars. If Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services, his goal to eliminate many harmful chemicals from our food supply should prove tremendously beneficial for American health. One of the biggest poisons Americans drink daily in their sodas is corn syrup. Corn syrup is what many soda companies use as an alternative to cane sugar, not because it is healthier but because it is cheaper. Drinking soda with real cane sugar may not be beneficial to your health, but it is not nearly as detrimental as corn syrup is to your body. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has proposed possibly banning high fructose corn syrup due to the connection it has with weight gain and obesity. Our bodies are unable to fully digest corn syrup because our biological makeup doesn't allow for the high levels of sucrose in corn syrup to break down properly in our system. Causing the corn syrup to turn into fat in our bodies linking to higher rates of obesity. By using real cane sugar in sodas, our bodies can break down the sugar molecules better than the genetically modified corn syrup that is not meant to be inside our bodies. Corn syrup is just one of many examples such as red dye 40 and its link to ADHD in children, aspartame and its detrimental effect on our metabolisms, and sodium nitrite's connection to cancer. It is time that the Department of Health and Human Services began to crack down on the harmful additives and chemicals in our food and liquids that are causing harm to our bodies. Under the leadership of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the HHS can begin the process of making America healthy again by ridding our food supply of these poisonous chemicals that are not fit for a dog to eat.
Not only has the United States become vastly overweight due to unhealthy chemicals and additives in our foods, but these chemicals have also been linked to mental disabilities. Our bodies are like machines that have to be well fed and our brain is the engine. Without the proper grade of gas for the engine (nutritious food) our brains can not function at their full capacity. The harmful chemicals in ultra-processed foods are like putting diesel in a gas engine. Our bodies and brains are not meant to process these chemicals. According to the National Institute of Health, there has been a link between ultra-processed foods and "15 chronic non-communicable diseases" and mental disorders. The National Institute of Health saw a connection between processed foods and signs of depression and increased stress. Our bodies are being attacked by these harmful chemicals that have connections to cancer and depression. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has the tall task of having to combat a mental and physical health crisis in the United States that can be attributed to ultra-processed foods that are poisoning our food supply.
"Healthy citizens are the greatest asset a country can have" (Winston Churchill). America has managed to become one of the most unhealthy countries on earth due to the mass availability of ultra-processed foods. Hopefully, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be able to shape the Department of Health and Human Services to successfully combat this health crisis in America. With obesity and mental disorders on the rise in America, it is time to make America healthy again.
